The business community of Richwood has addressed the importance of tourism to the local economy by incorporating a new Convention & Visitor's Bureau (CVB) in early 1998. The organization's mission is the promotion of tourism, especially outdoor-related activities, in the Richwood area.  The Richwood train depot will be the future home of the Richwood CVB thanks to a Federal TEA21 grant disbursed by the State of West Virginia.   For the time being, the building signifies the vision of Richwood as an outdoor recreation destination.

Most travel inquiries are handled by the Richwood Chamber of Commerce, an organization of businesses in the community.  The Chamber of Commerce work diligently throughout the year to promote the community through advertising and getting articles in nationally circulated magazines such as Fly Fisherman, Southern Living and Outside, and nationally broadcast outdoor shows on ESPN and TNN.  The Chamber is also the catalyst for most of the festivals and events that take place in the Richwood area.  Examples of some of these events include West Virginia's longest running ramp festival, The Feast of the Ramson, the states first triathlon, The Scenic Mountain Triathlon, and the Mountain Color Art Festival,  to name a few.
